Nitropropane is the poor mans power adder. First I was thinking of getting a can of RC fuel. with the highest percentage of nitro available, i could dilute it with methanol to get a reasonable oil/NM/MeOH ratio. But then I found a qt of NM for like 30 bucks. Couldnt say no.

Got one of the final pieces to this build in the mail! Finally I can start making the parts. One of the things that concerns me is the color... I need to pull these apart and have them anodized. Unfortunately I have no idea what's inside so it's kind of an adventure.

These forks were made specifically for a scooter, so the height and stiffness are pretty close to perfect. They seem a little short for my taste and I want to add some sort of extension. Maybe and extra 6" rise. The forks are about 33"-34" from axle center to top. The axle holes are 13mm but there is plenty of material to drill em' out to 5/8". Regardless, I want to make these from scratch. I'll machine them from billet so I can have dual IS mounts... or maybe post mounts. The gold screw on the top is not an adjustment. It's just a plug, presumably for filling the tube with oil.

Here is the link. Lots of other cool stuff in the seller's store.

    I agree
Although it does not tie in directly to the color scheme. There is something about an extravegant part, being it own color that really flow well.

Looking forward to the updates, high hopes on forks. 🤘

Took this baby out to our local OHV park and had a blast! The ped did fantastic considering it was geared for the street at 10/72. I took it up a couple of serious hills (probably 35% grade and covered in gravel) and I was kind of amazed it pulled up them without slowing down. I was a little scared the clutch was going to be toast but it never got hot enough to melt my glove so that's a win in my book. I've got a 3 disc horstman clutch and it is a beast for surviving today's punishment.

I mashed through a mud puddle and me and my engine got a big gulp of muddy water. It soaked the air filter and stalled the engine but it fired back up after a few pulls. The mud got all in my cables and they were sticking a bit, but I managed to keep riding.

My GF took a vid at the kiddie track but it was a facebook live vid so I can't post it to youtube. Here is the link if you are a member of go ped merica:

This build is unbelievable! I can't wait to see what else you have up your sleeve. Are you going to try to break any top speed records for a goped?

Thanks man! I don't plan on doing any maxed out gearing top speed runs but... maybe. Is there a current goped top speed record? I know the record for stand up scooters was 120mph several years ago.

I had no idea someone went that fast on a standup scooter, but I was really pertaining just to gopeds in particular. As far as I knew, Derek Short's dual engine ped was the fastest I ever heard of or saw on your tube. I could be wrong though...Keep up the good work man.

Fresh billets here. Still gotta make the clamps and the stem, then I've got to weld on the new head tube. Pretty involved project but I think it's gonna be worth it.

Lookin' fresh! They turned out great.

Love the bolt on brake adapter idea. I'm curious how awesome your clamps will turn out.

Took it for a test ride! I took it up to about 50 and no wobbles. I'm afraid to take it faster without a damper... at those speeds a small wobble is a big problem.

I started with the frame by machining out the old head tube. I set it up in the mill and squared up closely to make sure everything was well aligned. Then I welded it in place and pressed in the cups. The welds don't look fantastic but I dialed in the welder to make sure they stay strong. The headset is a typical 1 1/8" threadless. You know... the one goped should have started using like 15 years ago.

The rake is set around 18 degrees, same as stock. The trail is about 1/2" which is far less than a GSR or GTR. The wobbles are definitely better than stock so maybe the huge amount of trail on the stock fork is the problem. I'll push it faster little by little to see if it still has any wobble. It's getting a damper in any case.
